Las Vegas: Zion National Park Small Group Tour with Lunch

About This Experience

This is the Zion day trip for travellers who want to walk in the canyon rather than photograph it through a windscreen. The group is capped at 13, the vehicle leaves the Strip early, and the itinerary is built around two real trails instead of a string of ten-minute viewpoint stops.

The drive north takes roughly two and a half hours each way through the Virgin River Gorge, entering the park past the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel — a mile of 1930s roadwork bored straight through the sandstone. First stop is the Zion Canyon Visitor Center for about forty minutes to get oriented and use the facilities.

The centrepiece is Canyon Overlook Trail: an hour and a half on a short but genuinely exposed one-mile round trip that ends on a ledge looking straight down the length of Zion Canyon towards the Towers of the Virgin. Afterwards the pace drops for the Riverside Walk, forty minutes of flat paved path following the Virgin River upstream to the mouth of The Narrows.

A deli lunch, bottled water and snacks are included, along with the standard park admission. Total time inside the park is close to three hours on foot — more than any other sub-$200 tour departing Las Vegas, and the reason this one is the site's default recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the Zion day trip from Las Vegas?

About 12 hours door to door. Roughly five hours of that is driving — two and a half hours each way — which leaves close to three hours on foot inside the park, split between the Visitor Center, Canyon Overlook Trail and the Riverside Walk.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. Eleven Las Vegas pickup points are offered, covering most of the Strip plus downtown, and you are returned to the same location. Confirm your pickup time with the operator the day before, as departure moves earlier in high summer.

How hard is the Canyon Overlook Trail?

It is short — about one mile round trip — but it is not flat. There are steps, uneven sandstone and drop-offs protected in places by railings. Most reasonably mobile adults manage it comfortably in trainers; it is not suitable for anyone with significant mobility impairment.

Do I have to pay a park entrance fee on top of the tour price?

US residents do not — park admission is included. Non-US residents have, since 1 January 2026, needed to be covered by the $250 America the Beautiful Non-Resident Annual Pass or pay the $100 per-person non-resident surcharge at Zion. Budget for that separately and check the current requirement with the operator when you book.

What should I bring?

Closed walking shoes with grip, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and more water than you think you need. Layers help — the canyon floor and the tunnel-side overlook can differ by several degrees, and shoulder-season mornings are cold.
